 Real Ales at Duke William

The Duke William serves eight real ales at any one time. Four are cycled on a regular basis and four are kept constantly tapped. The selection is very well complemented by a range of specialist international beers, for example the Belgian Trappist Monk brewed beers like the world famed Chimay red and blue labels.

For many years small and micro breweries have been battling with giant international breweries for a share of the tastes of the discerning drinking public. There are now in excess of 700 to 800 small local housed breweries in all areas of Britain.

Today even with Supermarkets stocking a wide range of specialist ales which has changed the way drink is consumed, they cannot compete with the friendly comaraderie and shared social and communal experience found in the traditional 'local'. The pub is at last fighting back!

Neil Williams of the British Beer and Pub Association said ' People are now giving a lot of attention to real ale, the way it is kept, the way it is served and how it can complement food ~ They are becomming more experimental in what they drink and they like to try out something that has come from the local area.'
